The Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC) is a historic social reform and educational organization established in 1934 by Late Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan with the noble aim of promoting education and social welfare in the State of Kashmir.
Since its establishment, SEC has played a vital role in promoting educational awareness and supporting deserving students, particularly those from underprivileged families. The organization began its journey with the famous “Muthi Atta Scheme,” which empowered women and encouraged every household to contribute a handful of flour to support educational and welfare activities.
Originally the organization was named Muslim Educational Conference, but due to registration difficulties during the Dogra rule, it was later renamed Sudhan Educational Conference with the agreement of tribal elders and prominent leaders.
A prosperous, educated Sudhan community.
Mobilizing the community and supporting women through grassroots initiatives.
Providing awareness and essential support to deserving, underprivileged students.
Uplifting youth to create a prosperous and educated Sudhan community.
The Sudhan tribe has a rich and distinguished history marked by courage, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication to the welfare of society. Throughout the history of the region, members of the Sudhan community have played an important role in political leadership, military service, education, and social development.
The people of the Sudhan tribe were among the foremost contributors in the struggle for the liberation of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in 1947. Thousands of trained soldiers from the region, who had earlier served in the British Army, participated in the freedom movement and made remarkable sacrifices for the cause of freedom.
Among the most prominent personalities of the tribe was Baba-e-Poonch Late Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan, a visionary leader who devoted his life to the social, educational, and political uplift of the people of Poonch. His efforts led to the establishment of the Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC) in 1934, which became a powerful platform for promoting education and social reform.

(Khan Sahib) with his beaming vision and unflinching resolve headed the office of President SEC in person fervently from 1934 till his demise on 11 Nov 1961.
He delegated his dynasty to his tribe for successors to pursue. So after him there have been a chain of highly spirited and very dedicated personalities who led this NGO befittingly thereby keeping its glorious name alive till to date and still provides a non-political platform where key persons from all political parties, elite from civil society, businessmen along with retired and serving officers from the Armed Forces, Civil Service, Academia and different other entities, sit together and discuss issues of common interest and formulate policies to be pursued by the SEC.
