SEC Kashmir

About Us

The Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC) is a historic social reform and educational organization established in 1934 by Late Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan with the noble aim of promoting education and social welfare in the State of Kashmir.

Since its establishment, SEC has played a vital role in promoting educational awareness and supporting deserving students, particularly those from underprivileged families. The organization began its journey with the famous “Muthi Atta Scheme,” which empowered women and encouraged every household to contribute a handful of flour to support educational and welfare activities.

Originally the organization was named Muslim Educational Conference, but due to registration difficulties during the Dogra rule, it was later renamed Sudhan Educational Conference with the agreement of tribal elders and prominent leaders.

Message From The President

It gives me immense pleasure to address all members, supporters, and well-wishers of the Sudhan Educational Conference through this platform.
The Sudhan Educational Conference, founded in 1934 by the great visionary leader Baba-e-Poonch Late Col. Khan Muhammad Khan, has remained a beacon of hope and guidance for the community for decades. The noble mission of promoting education, social harmony, and collective progress continues to inspire us even today.
Education is the cornerstone of any progressive society. Following the vision of our founding father, SEC has consistently worked for the promotion of education, social reforms, and welfare of deserving individuals without any discrimination. Through scholarships, educational initiatives, and community development projects, we aim to empower the younger generation and prepare them to meet the challenges of the future.
One of our major ongoing projects is the Khan Sahib Educational Complex at Rawalakot, which will serve as the central hub for SEC activities and will contribute significantly to the promotion of education in the region. The support and cooperation of our community members and donors are essential for the successful completion of this landmark project.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our members, donors, volunteers, and overseas supporters who have always stood with SEC and helped carry forward the legacy of our great leader.
Let us continue working together with unity, dedication, and sincerity to achieve the vision of an educated and progressive society.

Sardar Shazib Shabbir Khan

President, Sudhan Educational Conference

Message From The General Secretary

It is a matter of great honour for me to serve the Sudhan Educational Conference as its General Secretary and to contribute towards the noble mission initiated by Baba-e-Poonch Late Col. Khan Muhammad Khan in 1934.
For nearly nine decades, SEC has been playing a vital role in promoting education, social awareness, and community development in the region. The organization has always remained committed to supporting deserving students, strengthening educational institutions, and encouraging social harmony among all communities.
During the recent years, SEC has taken significant steps to expand its activities. Scholarships have been provided to numerous deserving students purely on merit, and efforts are underway to further enhance educational opportunities for the youth.
The construction of the Khan Sahib Educational Complex at Rawalakot is one of the most important projects of SEC. Once completed, it will provide a permanent platform for educational, social, and welfare activities of the organization.
I sincerely appreciate the valuable contributions of our respected elders, members, and generous donors who continue to support SEC with dedication and trust. Their cooperation is the real strength behind the success of this organization.
I assure all members and supporters that transparency, accountability, and collective consultation will remain the guiding principles in managing the affairs of SEC.
May Allah grant us wisdom and strength to continue serving society and to fulfill the vision of our founding leader.

Dr. Ghulam Hussain Khan

General Secretary, Sudhan Educational Conference

History of SEC

The Sudhan tribe has a rich and distinguished history marked by courage, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication to the welfare of society. Throughout the history of the region, members of the Sudhan community have played an important role in political leadership, military service, education, and social development.

The people of the Sudhan tribe were among the foremost contributors in the struggle for the liberation of Azad Jammu & Kashmir in 1947. Thousands of trained soldiers from the region, who had earlier served in the British Army, participated in the freedom movement and made remarkable sacrifices for the cause of freedom.

Among the most prominent personalities of the tribe was Baba-e-Poonch Late Colonel Khan Muhammad Khan, a visionary leader who devoted his life to the social, educational, and political uplift of the people of Poonch. His efforts led to the establishment of the Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC) in 1934, which became a powerful platform for promoting education and social reform.

Under his leadership, the slogan “Educate Your Children” spread across the region and transformed the outlook of the society towards education. This movement resulted in a significant rise in literacy and produced a generation of educated professionals, including military officers, judges, professors, doctors, civil servants, and political leaders.
The Sudhan community has produced distinguished personalities who have served as Presidents, Prime Ministers, Speakers of Assemblies, Chief Justices, senior military officers, diplomats, and academicians in Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
Today, the Sudhan Educational Conference continues to preserve the legacy of its founder and strives to promote education, unity, and social harmony among all communities.

SEC Milestones

The Sudhan Educational Conference (SEC) is one of the oldest and most respected social and educational organizations of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. It was founded in 1934 by the great visionary leader Baba-e-Poonch Late Col. Khan Muhammad Khan (Khan Sahib) with the objective of promoting education, social reform, and community development.
The organization was established at a time when education facilities in the region were very limited. Through its inspiring slogan “Educate Your Children”, SEC mobilized the local population to give priority to education and social uplift.
Over the decades, SEC has played a vital role in improving literacy in the Poonch region, supporting deserving students through scholarships, and contributing to the establishment and development of educational institutions.
Today, the organization continues its mission with renewed dedication by promoting education, supporting students, encouraging social harmony, and serving humanity without discrimination.
SEC remains a non-political and community-based organization, supported by voluntary contributions and donations from members and well-wishers across Pakistan and overseas.
