HISTORY OF SUDHAN TRIBE
No doubt we as a martial tribe have rich history full of feat and laurels with formidable sacrifices for the liberation of this part of the State of Jammu and Kashmir yet it was considered essential to have a reliable account of these contributions through some impartial author. Therefore, the SEC engaged the services of famous historian/author and writer Syed Bashir Hussain Jafri to write history of Sudhan tribe vehemently and impartially. Incidentally, the mother of Mr.Jafri late happened to be from Tain (Rawalakot) that is why he had the first hand knowledge of many historic events which he had heard from his mother. Some material collected by Lt Col Retd Sardar Muhammad Sarwar Khan of Mong was handed over to the author alongwith other available material. The first draft was handed over to the SEC in 2004. Initially there were some serious concerns raised about certain narratives. To dispel those anomalies a Committee was constituted, in consultation with the author. The needful was done amicably after threadbare discussions.
The Book was ready for publication in 2010 but the issue of financial constraints was resolved by Maj Retd Sardar Mushtaq Ahmed Khan from Baloch Sudhnoti who voluntarily took responsibility hence it was published in Mar 2020 and available with SEC.
May Allah grant us strength and wisdom in taking forward this organization in pursuit of the vision of Khan Sahib
There are numerous NGOs established in the names of other clans or tribes but there is a marked difference between the SEC and its contemporaries. The SEC is financed by the subscribers and donors from within the Sudhan tribe (as every Sudhan is supposed to contribute) but beneficiaries are spread across all the tribes without having any discrimination.
Secondly, SEC has also contributed in establishing new institutions like Polytechnic College Rawalakot, Poonch Medical College Rawalakot and University Campus at Mong from where everyone is taking benefit.
There is a need to engage Government functionaries as well as the well-off people from other tribes to take part in financing such as institutions of common interest.
SEC has recently been registered as a Charity organization in the UK with kind courtesy of Dr. Shoukat Ali Khan, President SEC UK Zone and Sardar Jahanzeb Khan grandson of Khan Sahib in 2022.
